HMS Calypso (1870)  (5th)

This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Calypso was a fifth rate, 46-gun, ship.

Originally HMS Blonde, built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 12-Jan-1819, 155ft long, 40ft 6in wide and of 1,103 tons builders measurement. Armed with 16 x 32pdr carronades, 28 x 18pdr, and 2 x 9pdr guns.

Used for harbour service from Nov-1850.

Renamed HMS Calypso 09-Mar-1870.

Sold 28-Feb-1895.
