HMS Brave (1805)  (4th)

This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Brave was a third rate, 80-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Originally French, (Formidable), captured in action off the coast of Spain, 04-Nov-1805. 194ft 6in long, 51ft 6in wide and of 2,249 tons builders measurement. Armed with 32 x 32pdr, 18 x 32pdr carronades, 30 x 18pdr and 4 x 12pdr guns.

Used as a prison ship from Jan-1808, then as a powder hulk from Oct-1814.

Sold for breaking up at Plymouth, Apr-1816.
