HMS Arrogant (1898) CC  (5th)

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Arrogant was the name ship of a class of four 2nd Class, Protected Cruisers.

Built at Devonport Dockyard, laid down 10-Jun-1895, launched 26-May-1896, and completed 27-Jan-1898.

On completion served with the Channel Squadron 189801901.

Re-armed with a uniform battery of 6in guns 1902-03. Then went to the Mediterranean 1903-05. Attached to the Atlantic Battle Squadron 1905-09. Joined the 3rd Fleet at Devonport 1910.

Converted to a Submarine Depot Ship at Devonport 1910-11 and served in this role at Portsmouth 1911-14 and Dover 1914-18.

Also used as the Base Flagship, Dover Patrol 1815-18.

Listed for disposal 1919 but later used as an accommodation ship for Submarine School, Portsmouth.

Sold 1923 for breaking up.
