HMS Amphion (1936) CC  (6th)

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Amphion was a cruiser.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, laid down 26-Jun-1933, launched 27-Jul-1934 and completed 06-Jul-1936.

Following completion served as flagship of the 6th Cruiser Squadron on the Africa Station 1936-38.

Transferred to the Royal Australian Navy Jun-1939 and renamed HMAS Perth. Served on the America & West Indies Station 1939, Australia 1940, Mediterranean 1941, Australia 1941-42.

Torpedoed in the Sunda Strait 01-Mar-1942 by Japanese Cruisers and destroyers with the loss of 359 of her crew. 

Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1939, Matapan 1941, Greece 1941, Crete 1941 and Malta Convoys 1941.
