Wooden Screw Corvette 14-gun

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Amethyst was a 14-gun, wooden screw corvette.

Built at Devonport Dockyard, launched 10-Apr-1871, 220ft long, 37ft wide and displacing 1,970 tons. Armed with 14 x 64pdr guns.

Sold Nov-1887.

Won the Battle Honour: Ashantee 1873-74.
