This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Ambuscade was one of
two prototype
destroyers. Built by Yarrow, laid down 08-Dec-1924, launched 15-Jan-1926, commissioned 15-Mar-1927. Took part in the King George V Silver Jubilee Fleet Review 16-Jul-1935. During 1939-1940 Ambuscade was at Portsmouth undergoing refit. She emerged in time to take part in Channel Operation off Northern France in Jun-1940 when she received hits from a shore battery. She then served with the 12th Destroyer Flotilla before moving on to 3rd Escort Group operating in the North Atlantic, and Russian Convoys. She became a target ship for the Fleet Air Arm in 1943. After WW2 she was used for shock trials in Loch Striven in 1946, before being sold 23-Nov-1946. Arrived at Troon for breaking up Mar-1947. Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1940-44 and Arctic 1942.
