This the first ship to carry the name HMS Active was a sixth rate, 28-gun, ship.

Built by Stanton of Deptford, launched 11-Jan-1758, 118ft 6in long, 34ft wide and of 594 tons builders measurement.

Captured by the French off San Domingo, 01-Sep-1778.

Won the Battle Honour: Lagos 1759.
