This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Actaeon was a 26-gun, wooden screw frigate used for harbour service..

Originally HMS Ariadne, built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 04-Jun-1859, 280ft long, 51ft wide, of 3,214 tons builders measurement and displacing 4,583 tons. Armed with 24 x 10in and 2 x 68pdr guns.

Used for harbour service from 1884.

Renamed HMS Actaeon 06-Jun-1905.

Sold 11-Dec-1922.
