This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Actaeon was a torpedo schoolship.

Originally a fourth rate, 50-gun, ship, HMS Vernon.  Built at Woolwich Dockyard, launched 01-May-1832, 176ft long, 52ft 6in wide, of 2,080 tons builders measurement and displacing 2,388 tons. Armed with 50 x 32pdr guns.

Used as a torpedo schoolship from 1876, and renamed HMS Actaeon, 14-Jan-1886.

Sold 14-Sep-1923.
