Tartar Class (1702)

| The
Tartar Class were a group of three, fifth rate, 32-gun, ships.
The first, HMS Tartar was built to a new design with a deck over the guns and was followed by two others. Under the 1703 Establishment of guns they formed part of the second smallest of four classes of fifth rate ships. Under the 1716 Establishment these 32-gun classes merged with the larger 36-gun fifth rates to form a single 30-gun grouping.
