Bay Class (1944) FF
|
|
The Bay
class were initially a sub group of the Loch Class
(1944) FF. All were initially
given a 'Loch' name and renamed in 1944 when made a Class of their own.
They were intended to be heavy Anti-Aircraft ships to accompany the British Fleet into Japanese waters. In the 1950s, their guns and fire control were obsolete against modern aircraft, which led to their quick exit from British service, although several were transferred abroad.
