||||
Description |
The action took place on the island of St. Lucia in the West Indies. The island was the first of a series of objectives to be taken in the West Indies. The British squadron comprised 2 ships-of-the-line, plus 5 smaller vessels and a large number of transports. Three landings began on 27-April and on 24-May a cease fire was arranged, followed the next day by the surrender of French troops on the island. The force went on to capture St. Vincent and Grenada.
