HMS Wessex (1918) DD  (1st)

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Wessex was a W Class, destroyer.

Built by Hawthorn Leslie, laid down 23-Mar-1917, launched 12-Mar-1918, and commissioned 11-May-1918.

Took part in the King George V Silver Jubilee Fleet Review 16-Jul-1935.

Bombed and sunk 24-May-1940 off Calais.

Won the Battle Honour: Atlantic 1939-40.
