This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Tyne was a 2-gun, iron screw storeship.

Built by Armstrong, launched 19-Jan-1878 and bought by the Admiralty 08-Mar-1878, 108ft 6in long, 30ft 6in wide and displacing 3,560 tons. Armed with 2 x 24pdr guns.

Foundered 15-Nov-1920 in a gale off Sheerness.
