This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Surprise/Surprize was a fifth rate, 38-gun, ship.

Built at Milford Haven Dockyard, launched 27-Jul-1812, 150ft 6in long, 40ft wide and of 1,072 tons builders measurement.

Used as a convict ship from Jun-1822.

Ordered sold 02-Oct-1837.
