HMS Speaker (1649) (1st)

This the first ship to carry the name HMS Speaker was a
50-gun, ship. Built at Woolwich, launched 1649, 142ft long, 35ft wide and of 727 tons builders measurement. Renamed Mary 1660, of 60-guns. Wrecked 27-Nov-1793 at the Goodwin Sands. Won the Battle Honours: Dover 1652, Kentish Knock 1652, Portland 1653, Gabbard 1653, Scheveningen 1653 and Santa Cruz 1657.
