HMS Solebay (1945) DD  (7th)

    
This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Solebay was a Battle Class (1944), destroyer leader. As destroyer leader she had slightly reduced armament to allow the increased complement and working space needed to control a flotilla.

Built by Hawthorn Leslie, laid down 03-Feb-1943, launched 22-Feb-1944, and commissioned 11-Oct-1945.

Following completion was in the Mediterranean on her way to join the British Pacific Fleet when the war ended. Returned to the UK to serve in home waters.

Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953 and was later the same year put into reserve.

Returned to active service 1957 to serve with the Home and Mediterranean Fleets. Then went to the Far East returning to the UK 1960. Served with the Home and Mediterranean Fleets until Apr-1962 when she was decommissioned and placed on the disposal list.

Used as Harbour Training Ship at Portsmouth until sold and arrived at Troon for breaking up 11-Aug-1967.
