This the first ship to carry the name HMS Saumarez was a
destroyer leader. Built by Cammell Laird, laid down 02-Mar-1916, launched 14-Oct-1916 and completed 21-Dec-1916. 315ft long, 32ft wide and displacing 1,673 tons. Armed with 4 x 4in guns and 4 x torpedo tubes. Sold 08-Jan-1931.
