HMS Ravager (1943) CVE  (1st)

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Ravager was an Attacker Class, escort aircraft carrier.

Built by Seattle=Tacoma Shipbuilding at Seattle, laid down 30-Apr-1942, launched 16-Jul-1942 on Lend-Lease and commissioned 25-Apr-1943.

Arrived at Greenock 28-Jul-1943 and allocated to Western Approaches Command as a deck landing training carrier. Continued with this work until Oct-1944. But was fitted out as a ferry carrier in Apr-1944.

Ferried aircraft to Gibraltar Oct-1944 and then resumed training duty until Jan-1945 when she was used for ASDIC (sonar) trials. Training duty then continued until Dec-1945 when flying operations ended.

.Returned to the US Navy 27-Feb-1946 at Norfolk Navy Yard.

Sold as the merchant vessel Robin Trent and later renamed Trent.

Scrapped at Taiwan 07-Jul-1973.

Won the Battle Honour: Atlantic 1943.
