HMS Ranee (1943) CVE  (1st)

    
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Ranee was a  Ruler Class (1942) escort aircraft carrier. Built for the US Navy as USS Niantic, CVE 46, and transferred to the Royal Navy under lease-lend terms.

Built by Seattle-Tacoma Shipbuilding Corp at Seattle, laid down 05-Jan-1943, launched 02-Jun-1946, transferred to the Royal Navy and commissioned 08-Nov-1943.

Modifications to meet Royal Navy requirements followed at Vancouver.

Loaned to the US Navy as a ferry carrier and returned to Royal Navy control 18-Oct-194 and allocated to Western Approaches Command as a ferry carrier.

Refitted at Rosyth Dec-1944 to Jan-1945.

Again loaned to the US Navy as a ferry carrier until Jun-1945.

Refitted at Rosyth as a troopship and continued in this role until 08-Nov-1946 when she was returned to the US Navy at Norfolk Navy Yard,

Sold as merchant ship Friesland 08-Nov-1946.

Renamed Pacific Breeze 1967.

Broken up for scrap at Taiwan May-1974.

Won the battle Honour: Atlantic 1945.
