This the first ship to carry the name HMS Penzance was a 24-gun, sixth rate ship.

Built by Ellis of Shoreham, launched 22-Apr-1695, 94ft 6in long, 24ft 9n wide and of 246 tons builders measurement. Armed with 20 x 6pdr and 4 x 4pdr guns. Crew complement was 115 in home waters in peacetime or 85 in peace or war in distant waters.

Put up for sale 23-Sep-1713.
