HMS Pelorus (1943) MS  (4th)

     
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Pelorus was an Algerine Class, minesweeper.

Built by Lobnitz, launched 18-Jun-1943 and completed 09-Oct-1943.

Transferred to the South African Navy 1947 and renamed Pietermaritzburg.

Used as an accommodation ship 1968-91.

Scuttled in False bay 19-Nov-1994.

Won the Battle Honours: Normandy 1944, Atlantic 1945 and East Indies 1945.
