HMS Patroller (1943) CVE  (1st)

    
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Patroller was a Ruler Class (1942) escort aircraft carrier. Built for the US Navy as Keweenam, CVE 44, and transferred to the Royal Navy under lease-lend terms.

Built by Seattle-Tacoma Shipbuilding Corp, of Seattle, laid down 27-Nov-1942, launched 06-May-1943, transferred to the Royal Navy and commissioned 22-Oct-1943.

Following completion 25-Oct-1943 allocated to the Eastern Fleet as a ferry carrier.

Loaned to the US Army for use as a ferry carrier 15-Mar-1944 to 02-May-1944.

Refitted at Vancouver May-1944 to Jul-1944 for operational use and allocated to Western Approaches command 22-Aug-1944.

Loaned to the US Navy 28-Jan-1945 for use as a ferry carrier in the Pacific until 01-May-1945. Operated in the Atlantic until Aug-1945.

Modified at the Clyde for trooping duties.

Used in this capacity between the UK and the Far East until Dec-1946.

Returned to the US Navy at Norfolk, Virginia 13-Dec-1946.

Sold as the merchant vessel Almerk. Renamed Pacific Alliance 1968.

Broken up at Taiwan Feb-1974.

Won the Battle Honour: Atlantic 1944-45.
