HMS Newport (1867) (3rd)

This the third ship to carry the name HMS Newport was a
survey vessel. Built at Pembroke Dock, laid down 17-Sep-1860, but suspended 1862/63, launched 20-Jul-1867, as a wooden screw gunvessel, but completed Apr-1868 as a survey vessel. 145ft long, 25ft 5in wide, of 425 tons builders measurement and displacing 570 tons. Sold Mar-1881 as a merchant vessel and renamed Blencathra. Wrecked 11-Jun-1881 and salved, renamed Pandora 1899.
