This the first ship to carry the name HMS Nereide was a fifth rate, 36-gun, ship.

Originally French, 140ft long, 27ft 6in wide and of 892 tons builders measurement.

Captured by HMS Phoebe 20-Dec-1797 off the Isles of Scilly.

Recaptured by the French 28-Aug-1810 at Mauritius.

Captured again 06-Dec-1810 at Mauritius.

Sold 01-Mar-1816.
