This the fifth ship to carry the name
HMS Monarch was the second of four Orion Class (1912) battleships.
Built by Armstrong, shipbuilders, laid down Apr-1910, launched 30-Mar-1911 and completed in Mar-1912. She served with the Home Fleet from 1912-14, and Grand Fleet throughout WW1. Was present during the Battle of Jutland. Taken out of service in 1922. Sunk of the Isles of Scilly as a target for aircraft bombing, cruiser and battleship gunnery 20-Jan-1925. Did not sink until engaged at close range by HMS Revenge (1916). Won the Battle Honour: Jutland 1916.
