HMS Marne (1941) DD  (2nd)

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Marne was an M Class, destroyer.

Built by Vickers Armstrong on the Tyne, laid down 23-Oct-1939, launched 30-Oct-1940, and commissioned 02-Dec-1941.

Spent her war service mainly in the arctic.

To the Mediterranean mid 1942 for Malta convoy escort work.

Assisted in sinking the German minelayer Ulm, in the Barents Sea Aug-1942.

Torpedoed by U-515 12-Nov-1942 and had her stern blown off, but remained afloat, and was repaired.

Continued in service after the war.

Sold to Turkey 26-Mar-1958 and renamed Marseal Fevsi Cakmak.

Paid off 1970.

Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1942-44, Malta Convoys 1942 and Aegean 1944.
