This the third ship to carry the name HMS Kestrel was a 4-gun, composite screw gunboat.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 29-Feb-1872, 155ft long, 25ft wide and displacing 610 tons. Armed with 1 x 7in, 1 x 64pdr and 2 x 20pdr guns.

Sold Nov-1888.
