HMS Jersey (1648) (1st)

This the first ship to carry the name HMS Jersey was a fourth
rate, 48-gun, ship-of-the-line. Built by Starline of Maldon, launched 1654, and of 558 tons builders measurement. Captured by the French 18-Dec-1691 in the West Indies. Renamed Le Jersey and remained in French service until 1716. Won the Battle Honours: Santa Cruz 1657, Lowestoft 1665, Four Days' Battle 1666 and Orfordness 1666.
