This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Intrepid was an
Amphibious Assault Ship, or LPD (Landing Platform, Dock) Built by John Brown on the Clyde, laid down 19-Dec-1962, launched 25-Jun-1964, and commissioned 11-Mar-1967. Put into reserve 1991, and cannibalised 2000-2001 for spares for her sister ship HMS Fearless. Listed for disposal Jul-2001. Won the Battle Honour: Falkland Islands 1982.
