Iron Screw Frigate

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Inconstant was an iron screw frigate.

Built at Pembroke Dock, launched 12-Nov-1868, 335ft long, 50ft wide, 4,066 tons builders measurement, displacing 5,880 tons. Armed with 10x9in, and 6x7in MLR guns.

Used for harbour service from 1898.

Renamed the training ship HMS Impregnable II Jun-1906, renamed HMS Defiance IV Jan-1922, renamed Defiance II Dec-1930.

Arrived at Belgium 04-Apr-1956 for breaking up.
