This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Hampshire was an
Armoured Cruiser. Built by Armstrong of of Elswick, laid down 01-Sep-1902, launched 24-Sep-1903, and completed 15-Sep-1905. On completion joined the Channel Fleet 1905-06, then the Atlantic Fleet 1906-07. Back to the Channel Fleet 1907-08, Refitted at Portsmouth 1909, then joined the 3rd Fleet 1909-11. To the Mediterranean 1911-12 and on to the China Station 1012-14. Returned to the UK and joined the Grand Fleet Dec-1914. Struck a mine 05-Jun-1916 off the Orkney Islands and sank with the loss of 650 including Lord Kitchener. Won the Battle Honour: Jutland 1916.
