Wooden Screw Frigate 24-gun

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Dauntless was a 24-gun, wooden screw frigate.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 05-Jan-1847, 210ft long, 40t wide, and of 1,453 tons builders measurement. Armed with 4 x 10-in, 2 x 68pdr and 18 x 32pdr guns.

Rebuilt 1850 as 219ft 6in long, and 1,575 tons builders measurement.

Sold 01-May-1885.

Won the Battle Honours: Baltic 1854 and Crimea 1854-55.
