HMS Dasher (1988) PCF  (5th)

     
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Dasher was a P2000 Class, fast patrol boat.

Built by Watercraft launched 1986, completed by Vosper-Thornycroft May-1988.

Assigned as the Bristol University UNRU 08-Jun-1988 to Jan-2003.

Deployed as part of the Royal Navy Cyprus Squadron Feb-2003 and based within RAF Akrotiri. Undertakes protection of visiting and other high value vessels. Also internal security patrols of the Sovereign Base Area.

In comparison with UK based units has Kevlar Armour and 3 x GPMG's, plus one additional crew member.

Relocated from Cyprus Apr-2010 to be part of Faslane Patrol Boat Squadron providing protection to the UK Nuclear Submarines at Faslane and arrived 06-May-2010.
