This the first ship to carry the name HMS Curlew was a fir-built, 16-gun, brig-sloop.

Built by Randall of Rotherhithe, launched 16-Jul-1795, 95ft long, 28ft wide and of 314 tons builders measurement.

Foundered 31-Dec-1796 in the North Sea.
