This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Contest was a 12-gun, gun-brig.

Built by Good of Bridport, launched 24-Oct-1812, 84ft long, 22ft wide and of 180 tons builders measurement. Armed with 10 x 18pdr carronades and 2 x 6pdr guns.

Wrecked 14-Apr-1828 North America.
