HMS Bonaventure (1894) CC  (7th)

    
This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Bonaventure was a 2nd Class, Protected Cruiser.

Built at Devonport Dockyard, laid down 09-Dec-1890, launched 02-Dec-1892, and completed 05-Jul-1894.

On completion went to the East Indies Station as Flagship, 1894-97. Returned to the UK and refitted 1897-98. To the China Station 1898-1901, during which she grounded on the East coast of Korea and was repaired at Hong Kong. Returned to the UK and refitted at Devonport 1901-03.

Then went to the Pacific Station 1903-04, and returned to the China Station 1904-06.

Converted to a Submarine Depot Ship at Haulbowline 1906-07. Joined the Home Fleet 1907-12 and escorted the submarines C36, C37 and C38 as far as Malta on their journey to join the China Station.

Served as Submarine Depot Ship at Harwich 1912-14, Humber 1914 the Tyne 1914-18.

Listed for disposal at Chatham 1919, sold 12-Apr-1920 and broken up at Bo'ness.
