HMS Barfleur (1697)  (1st)
2nd Rate 90-gun 

    
This the first HMS Barfleur was a 2nd rate, three deck, 90/82-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built at Deptford Dockyard, 162ft 10.5in long on the deck, 129ft 4.5in long in the keel, 46ft 4in wide, 18ft 2.5in depth in the hold, and of 1,476 tons builders measurement (bm).

She had an establishment of 90-guns and 680 men in time of war at home or 82-guns and 500 men in peace or war overseas.

Ordered 1695, launched 10-Aug-1697.

She underwent a rebuild at Deptford 1716, when her tonnage increased to 1,565 tons bm, and she was reduced to 80-guns.

Hulked in 1764, and broken up Jul-1783.

Won the Battle Honours: Vigo 1702, Velez Malaga 1704, and Passero 1718.
