This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Argo was originally HMS Espiegle, a composite screw sloop.

Built at Devonport Dockyard, launched 03-Aug-1880, 170ft long, 36ft wide and displacing 1,130 tons.

Used as a boom vessel 1899, renamed HMS Argo Mar-1904.

Sold 25-Aug-1921.
