This the first ship to carry the name HMS Antrim was an
armoured cruiser. Built by John Brown on the Clyde, laid down 27-Aug-1902, launched 08-Oct-1903, and completed 23-Jun-1905. On completion joined the Channel Fleet 1905-07, the Atlantic Fleet 1907-09, and the 3rd Fleet 1909-11, the 2nd Fleet 1912-14. On the outbreak of WW1 joined the Grand Fleet 1914-16 as Flagship 3rd Cruiser Squadron. Was present at Heligoland 28-Aug-1914 and Archangel Jun-1916. To the America & West Indies Station 1916-18. Returned to the UK and went into reserve 1919. Used as an ASDIC trials ship 1920-21, then Cadets Training Ship 1922. Sold 19-Dec-1922.
