HMS Albion (2003) LPD  (9th)

This the ninth ship to bear the name Albion is the first of a new class of Landing Platform Docks, and entered service in 2003.

Built by BAE Systems at Barrow-in-Furness, laid down 23-May-1988, launched 09- Mar-2001 and commissioned 19-Jun-2003. 

Took part in the Trafalgar 200 Fleet Review.

Following the early decommissioning of HMS Ark Royal took over the role of Fleet Flagship of the Royal Navy on 03-Dec-2010.

She is affiliated to the City of Chester.

The ship's motto is "Boldly Faithfully Happily".

In service Apr-2011.
