HMS Alacrity (1945) SL  (8th)

    
This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Alacrity was a Modified Black Swan Class (1942) sloop.

Built by Denny, laid down 05-Apr-1943,  launched 01-Sep-1944, and completed 13-Apr-1945.

On commissioning went to join the Pacific Fleet, but the war ended by the time she reached Colombo. Arrived at Hong Kong 19-Sep-1945, and continued in service off the Chinese coast until Feb-1946 when she went for refit at New Zealand which took until Apr-1946. Continued with the Pacific Fleet (which was renamed the Far East Fleet 1949) until mid-1951.

Then returned to the UK and was put into reserve. 

Went to the far east during the Korean War.

Arrived at Arnott Young of Dalmuir for breaking up, 15-Sep-1956.

Won the Battle Honour: Korea 1950-52.
