Echo Class (2002) SVHO

The two ships of the Echo Class (2002) are part of the Royal Navy's Surveying Service.

They can collect hydrographic and oceanographic data world wide. Which in addition to being used for military purposes are used to update Admiralty Charts and publications, sold world wide and used by ships of many countries.

They are the first RN ships to be fitted with 360º azimuth thrusters, which, when used in conjunction with the bow-thruster give extremely accurate manoeuvrability.

Both continue in service June 2010.
