Hunt Class Type 3 (1942) DE |
|
The
Hunt Class Type 3 (1942) were ordered under the 1940 construction programme,
and were intended to be a repeat of the previous years Type 2 ships. But one
4in turret was deleted and replaced by 2 torpedo tubes.
Their war service was similar to the earlier Hunts, and they served mainly in the Mediterranean, Adriatic and North Seas. After the WW2 several were transferred to Allied Navies, and two went to West Germany in 1958. The last to leave Royal Navy service was HMS Talybont which was broken up in 1961.
