| As
designed these ships were a return to the L Class size destroyers of the
1937 construction programme, with 4in guns in twin turrets. But the
most significant change was having two separate boiler rooms and engine
rooms, much better for damage control. Boiler pressures were 400 or 420psi similar to the Battle Classes. Sixteen were ordered on 07-Apr-1943 and four more on 27-May-1943.
