R Class (1916) DD

By mid 1915 it was time for initial lessons from WW1 to be evaluated. The main problem was that the existing design needed more range. The ships ordered were part of the 6th, 7th and 8th war programme.

Main changes from the previous M Class (1914) were;
two-shaft geared turbines to be installed instead of triple-shaft direct drive turbines;
redesigned bridge;
torpedo magazine fitted as an oil tank;
as usual some other improvements were also incorporated.

The new design was designated the R Class.
