Centaur Class (1916) CC |
|
The two
ships of the Centaur Class were built using machinery and materials
assembled for two cancelled Turkish ships. They were similar to the Cambrian Class (1916), but had a uniform armament of 5 x 6in guns. Despite additional width to accommodate the fifth gun , the Centaurs rolled considerably. In addition the concentration of weight forward made them tend to bury their bows in a head sea. HMS Centaur's № 2 gun was removed in 1925 and HMS Concord had her №'s 2 and 4 guns removed in 1928.
