Honour - SAN SEBASTIAN 1813 |
||||
Description |
A British squadron under Sir George Collier was working closely with Spanish
patriots during the Peninsular War. A British garrison of 1,150 men under pressure from the French, were embarked and transported a little further along the coast to safety at Santander. They remained in the area and began a bombardment and blockade of San Sebastian, then under French control. This continued until the French surrendered in September.
