Honour - 'Sevolod' 1808

Date - 26 August
Type - Single Ship or Boat Service Actions
Conflict - Napoleonic War; 1803-15

Description The action took place off Rogervik in the Gulf of Finland, in the Baltic.

HMS Implacable engaged and captured the Russian Sevolod which was within sight of the main Russian Fleet.

The wrecked Sevolod grounded on a shoal near the entrance to the harbour. On re-floating later the Russians sent a division of boats to tow her into the road.

Centaur and Implacable cut off this attempt, engaged Sevolod and forced her to surrender again. The following night after the Russian prisoners and wounded had been taken off, Sevolod was set fire to and destroyed.
