Description This Boat Service action took place at Fuengirola, near Malaga.

The Spanish ship  San Josef was moored under the protection of five guns mounted in the fortress above. 

Boats from HMS Phaeton set out late in the evening of the 27th and at 0500 hrs boarded and took the Spaniard.

Out of 56 aboard San Joseph lost 6 badly wounded and 13 slightly wounded. The British boarders lost 1 killed and 4 wounded.

San Josef was late commissioned into the Royal Navy under the name Calpe, the ancient name of Gibraltar.
